Ahh...so good to my soul

Tonight, I had time to actually sit down and READ! I've been in a constant state of GO for a very long time. Brian and I met each other at the gym, and then we headed off to the most delicious Trader Joe's for some groceries. He had to scoot (haha...funny word) to meet our new landlord to pick up the keys, so I stayed behind to get the rest of my groceries. We didn't make any plans to hang out afterwards :( so I went home, made an egg white omelet and decided to use this time to spend in the Word...a much needed time indeed!

You ever get that feeling in your soul/spirit when you haven't been spending enough time in the Word and then when you finally do it's like one of the Sprite commercials that talk about quenching your thirst...or like on a hot summers day (like what we've been having lately) and you decide to do the biggest cannonball in a cool pool or lake and it just feels so good...so right? Yeah, that's pretty much the feeling I got tonight...so oh. so. good. didn't. want. to. stop. :) Praise God for putting that in my heart! That is definitely a work of the Spirit.

Anyway, here are some verses that popped out to me tonight. I try to read the passage that will be preached on on Sunday during the week so tonight I read Deuteronomy 30...b-cuz that's what will be preached on this Sunday!

Deut. 30:3, 6, 14
3. then the Lord your God will restore your fotunes
and have compassion on you, and he will gather you
again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.

6. And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart
and the heart of your offspring, so that you
will love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul
that you may live.

14. But the word is very near you.
It is in your mouth and in your heart,
so that you can do it.

I especially loved the last verse. Last night on my run, I was thinking about my walk with the Lord and how I lack faith in God to provide or to give me a trust and confidence in who he is. He kinda convicted me and basically came at me with a "well, how are you gonna know if you don't do it?" Brian and I are going through premarital counseling right now. This week, we are going over communication in a marriage. We have to read A LOT of Bible passages that talk about communication (Ha!! PUN!!) One of the passages was over James and how he talks about faith and hearing the Word vs. doing the Word. That passage came to mind while I was running last night and my lack of faith in the Lord. I need to not only be a hearer of the word, but a doer. "It is in my mouth and in my heart so that I may do it."

ps. I hope you enjoyed the picture above. It was taken from the Leeman family session I had last week. Sweet sweet girls. :) Every post needs a picture.
